It is difficult to walk through our emotions; moving straight ahead, directly into the fire, to face the gauntlet of desires, grief, disappointment, fears, hopes and dreams that accompany us on our journey. Every bone in our body tells us to run the other way, as far away from the discomfort as we can, because if we allow ourselves to feel all of those things, we just might fall apart. We just might be overwhelmed. We just might rediscover how difficult our journey has been.
We just might FEEL. And feeling can be scary.
So, now might be the time that I offer some coaching advice on how to overcome these feelings. But, I’m not going to give you advice on how to curtail these emotions or get rid of them. I’m not even going to suggest that you look at them in a positive light, or try to glean some enlightenment from them. I’m going to tell you that you have every right to feel them.
Own them. They are yours.
They mark the highs and lows of your journey. They are woven into the fabric of your experience. Sit with them. Welcome them. Feel them. And then let them go on their merry way. They may be back at some point, but there is value knowing how to sit with and through the things that make us feel.
